The research conducted by the Museum of Nature South Tyrol in the area of Earth Sciences, Botany, and Zoology aim at cataloging South Tyrol's inventory of the natural world and thus to expand our knowledge and understanding of our homeland.
The professional study of fauna, flora, and Earth Sciences also includes an intensive involvement with systematics and taxonomy. This leads to numerous joint projects with similar institutions, especially universities and other museums.
The Museum of Nature South Tyrol has assumed responsibility for the central documentation of observations and the collection of data on Natural History in South Tyrol.
In the fields of Botany, Zoology, and Earth Sciences, important specimens are collected, studied, documented, and preserved.
The Museum publishes two scientific periodicals. The scientific staff publish contributions in various scientific journals and magazines.
