Completed Interdisciplinary Projects
The Schlern/Sciliar Habitat
The “Schlern/Sciliar“ Habitat Project is helping to preserve this habitat. The documentation of the flora and fauna of this region is the prerequisite for effective nature protection. This is the first time that an exactly delineated area in South Tyrol is being subjected to such an exhaustive inventorization.
The Etsch/Adige Habitat
The regulation of the Etsch/Adige River in the 19th Century resulted in the extensive destruction of many natural habitats, including sandbanks, gravel banks, pioneer areas, sedimentation areas, and alluvial forests – for the most part irreparably. Nevertheless, ecologically valuable habitats in which many plant and animal species have survived can still be found.
