The Ephedra Genus (Sea Grape) in the Alpine Region
In order to clarify the genetic relationship between Alpine populations of Ephedra amongst themselves and to E. distachya found in the coastal regions of Western and Southern Europe, a research project was initiated in co-operation with the Berlin Free University.
The concrete motivation for this was the still unclear taxonomic classification of known populations in Vinschgau / Val Venosta which have, ever since their discovery in the 19th Century, been again and again assigned to different taxa (E. distachya, E. helvetica, E. negrii). This project focuses on molecular genetic investigations.
